Reciting the Sutras: Version 3

In another version of the Zhaozhou story below, Master Tung-shan first bows to the messenger who returns the bow, but then he walks around the chair with the messenger and asks the messenger if he understood.

When the messenger replies, "No," Tung-shan says, "Why can't you understand that I have read a sutra for you?"
